July 1: Old friends

Everyone had a good sleep and woke up late.  Both boys were feeling better, although still a little less energetic than usual.

We spent most of the day relaxing at Grandma and Grandpa's house again.  After the busy days before, it was nice to have a day of not running around and looking at things.

The weather was still beautiful and cool, so the kids spent most of the day outside.  Emily took her journal out to the front porch to work on updating all her adventures.

After a quiet, day, we headed out to visit one of Jay's high school friends.  We had a great evening catching up with Mike, Sherrie, and their son. Emily enjoyed hearing funny stories about her dad when he was younger.

Benjamin was delighted to discover fireflies as it got dark.  We don't have fireflies in Texas, and he was a baby when we moved, so he was fascinated with these light-up bugs that were so easy to catch.  He spent an hour running around in the dark catching fireflies and was excited every time he got one.  We had to take a container of them back to Grandma's house with us because he couldn't bear to let them go.

It was another late night, but so much fun to visit!
